Located in the Alps at an altitude of 2300m, Val Thorens has the highest elevation of any ski resort in Europe, and as you would imagine – snow is a certainty all year around, making Val Thorens ideal for late ski deal hunters and forward planners alike. Val Thorens is the most modern of the villages in the ‘Three Valleys’ ski region. In additon to having one of the longest seasons in the Alps, the resort offers excellent, convenient facilities, in addition to top-notch snowboarding and skiing opportunities and a vibrant and fun après-ski scene for when you decide to take a break from the slopes.
The resort offers eight skiable passes or peaks at more than 3000m. There is almost 150km of ski-pistes in Val Thorens, and if you include the neighbouring resorts of Meribel and Courchevel there are 600 km of piste and as much off-piste as you can take!
Beginners will be glad of plenty of easy village slopes, and should soon graduate to the blue ski-runs. Intermediates skiers can easily make it over to Meribel and Courchevel for a superb all-day round trip. If you aren’t interested in venturing too far, the blue and red run around St Martin de Belleville and Les Menuires are really great.
